The Sanxingdui Museum, a Class-AAAA scenic spot
|
Deyang boasts a long history and splendid culture. Traditional cultures and historical sites, for example, the cliff carvings of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220), the Jiannanshaochun Liquor-an imperial tribute of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the Pangtong Temple and the Double Loyalty Temple in memory of Strategist Zhuge Liang of the Three Kingdoms (220-265), the Mianzhu New Year Pictures-one the four schools of traditional pictures of Chinese painting, the Ziyan Mountain-the birthplace of Daoism, and the national geological park on the Longmen Mountains, and so on, add quite a lot of glamour to Deyang.
The Sanxingdui Ruins, in particular, are known as the largest ruins unearthed in Sichuan so far, which contain profound cultural implications characterized by the ancient town, ancient kingdom, and ancient culture. The unearthing of the Sanxingdui site is believed to be one of the greatest archaeological findings in the 20th century, and a typical representative of the Yangtze civilization on the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Currently applications are under way for the world cultural heritage. The Sanxingdui Museum, amongst the first batch of Class AAAA tourist spots designated by the state, houses hoards of spectacular relics, such as the bronze human figurines, the 2.6-meter-tall standing figure, the grotesque bronze masks, the 4-meter-tall bronze holy tree , and the 1.42-meter-long gold scepter.
